Hello Myron

This is an excellent introduction to the opportunities Second Life offers for language learning.

You rightly mention that there is a lot of scope for informal language learning through practicing a language for free.

There are very many places that seem to attract native speakers of certain languages and they make great destinations for language practice. You can find links to many of these places (along with videos, images and maps) on the following page...

Hello Myron

As I have just mentioned - I really like this introduction to virtual world language learning.

You may be interested in attending SLanguages 2008, which is a virtual conference on the use of virtual worlds for language education.

You can find more information at SLanguages.net

There are also opportunites to present at the conference - The Call for Papers has further details at www.slanguages.net/callforpapers.php

I hope to see you there!
